Most countries protect the five caring labels as trademarks. They cannot be copied, published, or used unless accompanied by a special licensing arrangement with GINETEX. Companies agree to always use the symbols properly under this Intellectual Property licensing agreement.

 

The GINETEX symbols were also the inspiration for the international standard EN ISO 3758.

 

Licensees must always follow the relevant rules by using the symbols. Judicial action can be taken if the marks are used without permission or in an inappropriate manner.

 

Commercial firms (wholesalers, importers) are expected to maintain the correct treatment labelling of their orders with their vendors following the GINETEX guidelines.

 

Consumers should inspect textile articles before purchasing them to ensure that they have care symbols with appropriate care directions.

Give as much detail as possible about the textile treatment

The care mark symbols offer guidance on the overall allowable procedure as well as appropriate garment care. As a result, they are aimed at both customers and skilled cleaners (laundries, drycleaners).

 

The symbols denote an essential part of a textile’s care and maintenance. Colour, finishing, attachments (such as buttons and zips), and application are also included.

 

The manufacturers are responsible for the details, which must be accurate. However, the use of a care mark does not imply that the product is of high quality.
